Reflections 1 & 2
It is true that the best education comes from talented educators working and planning together. When teachers work and brainstorm in a trusting environment, meaningful, relevant, and interesting lessons can be developed for students. I have enjoyed working with the girls in this class. I am amazed at their talent and their dedication to this important profession. I have learned a great deal from the others in class. I can’t wait to use the group lesson plan in my own classroom.
I found dividing the unit into parts valuable. In the classroom of the twenty-first century, time is of the essence. I live by the saying that “teachers must learn to work smarter and not harder.” This practice has allowed us to share in meaningful way. It allowed us to share great ideas with everyone with minimal research. If there was a negative at all, it is that we were limited to face to face discussions with everyone on the project. But, the product is outstanding.
The format of the plan really works for me, and I hope it worked for everyone else too. This form allows me to think of the whole child while I am planning. I find it to be organized and easy to follow. I would be interested in other forms if someone has one they like better.
I am excited to present our project. We have collaborated and produced a nice unit. The activities are great for the age of child that we are to serve.
I hope that we can give feedback to one another after we use this in our classrooms.
Self evaluation and reflection is powerful and helps us to become better teachers. Often, in the rush of teaching, we are tempted to skip this most important part of lesson planning and implementing the plan. If we make it a common practice, we can improve and build upon lessons that we create.
While working on group project, the team decided on a unit plan that we could all participate in and cover all the areas needed to complete the requirements of our project. All team members picked an area in which they had an interest. We chose Community Helpers and then picked community helpers that we wanted to share information on. We worked well as a team. We used a template to put our lesson plan on. We emailed our results to Renee and then she sent lesson plans to Savannah. At that time, we realized that not all our lessons were able to be opened up when using our MacBook. We changed to PDF and then shared with Demetria. She added technology and ideas and additional support for diversity of students. Stephanie added comprehension questions to the unit. Lastly, Savannah put our project together. When we came together as a team we discussed areas not working and viewed our project on screen. We decided the font was too small and changed it. We as a team are going to practice our presentation. We will correct to make it smooth flowing and then present and be graded by the staff. I felt all team members were involved and cooperative. There was respect and participating among all of us. I enjoyed this project and working to together.
